Finally some answers...

After all these years of fighting with the schools to get the help that Hannah needs in school,  I finally got the answers I have been looking for.  Now its up to me to do the research to figure out what I can do to help her.  Hannah's school held an IEP meeting a couple weeks ago,  but prior to her IEP,  Hannah went through a lot of testing and also saw a psychologist.  After 2 full weeks of testing the psychologisht and the RSP teacher came to the conculsion that Hannah has Auditory Processing Disorder and that is why she is still struggling with reading.  I took this rather rough at first and left the IEP meeting in tears and cried the rest of the day and was hard on myself.  I want nothing but the best for my kids and I want them to do well in school and I feel that I have failed her somehow.  BUT the team I met with that day was so nice and reassuring and made me feel good about Hannah being in RSP and special needs classes.  I just know how mean and hurtful other kids can be and I just dont want Hannah to be teased and get her feelings hurt.  I know I cant protect her all her life.  But it is still hurtful as her mother to not be able to protect her from being hurt.

So I have started by doing online research and havent found much on this disorder.  But I havent given up and I wont give up.  I also will be going to the library to get some books and do some reading on this and how I can help her.  Now that we are aware of what the issue is , we can make the right steps to get it worked out and fix it.  That makes me happy!  I am proud of Hannah for coming as far as she has and for working as hard as she has.
